I just don't know!!
Daniel Dennett said there is No reason to believe in magical thinking. What is magical thinking? How far does the idea of magic stretch? Should we be skeptical of anything that we do not have immediate proof of? Should we dismiss it entirely or stand by a firm, "I don't know?" I do not know if there is life outside of this planet, I do not know if things disappear if no one is there to see them, I do not know what happened on September 11. I do not know if there is an afterlife, Daniel Dennett dismisses it entirely. My question is, at what point does he go from agnostic to athiest? he seems so sure of his viewpoints, but, as he said, "You can't prove a negative." Well, so if there is no proof on either side, how can he appear to be so certain in his beliefs? The best answer I can muster intelligently to any of these unanswerable questions is "I don't know." Anything beyond that would be the work of my imaginings and hopes and its clear that those are not usually based in fact.
