I <3 Gandhi
I am falling in love with Gandhi. Not the man per se, but his ideals, his convictions, his doctrines of non-violence and truth. I will never hesitate to pick up any writings of or about him because there is so much to learn from his unwavering discipline. Even when he errs, he is quick to correct himself and readily accepts responsibility for his mistakes without passing blame or making excuses. The gospel of non-violence is surely one to strive for. Even true martial artists learn that they do not have to harm their opponent to consider themselves victorious. With practice and skill you can learn how to defend yourself and tire out your opponent without ever having to throw a punch. I wonder, would Gandhi consider the use of martial arts in this way to be practice in the art of non-violence? Or is a higher degree of passivity needed in order to truly be considered non-violent?
